RIO GRANDE REVERIES
Southwestern Jazz for Your Atmosphere

Southwestern Jazz for Your Atmosphere
Ryan Murphey - guitars Howard Hudiburg - basses Paul Piper - drums & percussion
Rio Grande Reveries is inspired by some aspect of the southwestern United States, whether animal, desert, mountains, sky, or Spirit. This live duo version of the Rio Grande Reveries title track was recorded with the Sangre de Cristo mountains in the background - always a source of beauty and inspiration!
Coyotyl, from the album Rio Grande Reveries is a word of Aztec (Nahuatl) origin meaning coyote. To the Aztecs, the coyote is a significant animal symbolizing cleverness, adaptability, and trickery in mythology, with the name often given to intelligent or resourceful individuals. We endeavor to improvise with the stealth of the coyote, always striving to compose linear melody as we listen to each other.
The Red Tailed Hawk is nearly as elusive as the Coyote, but when you see one, you will never forget it. This splendorous creature inspired what can be described as a composition containing melodies and linear lines that seem to soar. This tune became a hard core duet between Ryan and Howard and this excerpt is presented both for enjoyment and to educate. Soar like a hawk! Enjoy!
